The Disaster Recovery Hub and Database builds on years of data collection and research by the Cambridge Centre for Risk Studies, supported by more than a decade of partnership with AXA XL. The database is comprised of information from primary research and various secondary sources.
Putting communities impacted by disasters back on their feet as quickly as possible, and in a better state is perhaps the most socially important role played by global (re)insurance. The Disaster Recovery Hub explores the socioeconomic dynamics of numerous global natural disaster events, to understand and quantify disaster recovery, and support disaster risk reduction.
We focus on the insurance protection gap and assessing the role of insurance capital on the speed and quality of recovery.

We believe that the (re)insurance industry can play a key role in accelerating the transition to a resilient, net-zero emissions economy. As part of AXA, a leading thinker about climate risk, we have access to the Group’s resources including climate training for all staff and the AXA Research Fund; a philanthropic initiative whose mission is to support independent academic research in key areas related to risk.
Our people and our technical expertise are valued by the market and our clients. We are trusted to assess the most complicated of risks and are asked to quote on the majority of opportunities relevant to us. Reinsurance Market Guide (axaxl.com)
